Maximo Park to headline Zelt Musik Festival!

Hey everyone,

We thought you’d enjoy a rest from the blatherings of The Park for a bit, but it’s time to share the love once more. Although we’re lying low, working on new material this year, we’ll be metaphorically snuggling up to the masses at the odd festival here and there this summer. You already know about Wakestock in Wales, but do you know about Zelt Musik Festival in Freiburg, Germany? Well you do now.

By the way, I love the way German-speaking countries spell ‘musik’ with a k - spiky!

We, here at Park Headquarters (AKA my house, as I type), are no strangers to this historic city and are more than happy to appear in a programme that includes ace Brazilian musician Gilberto Gil, amongst others (although the press photo they’re using of us on the website is one of my most hated - check it out for a quick laugh - thanks Warp!). We will be defying our status as an “Indie” band and we’ll be bringing some righteous Pop Attitude to the birthplace of famed intellectual Walter Benjamin.

   Yes, the picture on that site is sort of weird - but hey, look at the LaBrassBanda one!

   However, thanks for the nice update, although we already knew about the zelt festival (+ sonnenrot, split and a dj set in vienna) for a while. As long as the gigs don`t sell out before they are announced here everything is fine…
