Good Day,

It’s not been long since we announced our Darlington show, but we have further regional news to add. I should say thanks to those of you who helped the show to sell out in 5 minutes. As a band-member, a little statistic like that certainly puts a spring in your step for the rest of the day!

Another chance to see us Up North will come at the Split festival in Sunderland this September. Barry from the Futureheads approached me at a Hot Club De Paris gig in Newcastle and made the kind offer to headline the festival, which they helped organise last year. Dunc played with the Sunderland-based band Beak last year and their guitarist Richard asked Dunc to play as well, since he’s a big part of making Split happen. Dunc says it has “an up and coming youthful new festival vibe”, and who am I to argue? It’ll be a belter, I reckon.

Well, I hope everyone had a good Bank Holiday weekend. I trawled the Newcastle/Gateshead Evolution festival for the good stuff but was too late to see Lonelady and over-fussy stewards caused me to miss The Unthanks. And no, I didn’t pull the ‘do you know who I am’ trick, mainly because I’m not a complete chump, but also because, he probably wouldn’t have known who I was! Earlier that day, a young lady was convinced that Lukas was the lead singer, even though I was stood next to him and he was saying, “No, he’s the singer”! I took a photo and laughed my pants off…
