Intimate Darlington Warm Up Show Announced!

20 May 2010 / Posted by dg1982 / Posted in General & Live-news

Hi folks,

Just in case you were thinking we’d ignored the north-east in our live plans this year, we’d like to announce a gig in Darlington on the 2nd of July. We’re headlining the Wakestock festival the next day and wanted to get a gig in the bag before we do that, but, as anyone who’s caught us doing a small show before a big one, there are no warm-ups in the land of The Park! I can guarantee sweat (I’ll be the guy in the suit) and maybe some tears, and, since we’re in Darlo, maybe some blood, too! I jest of course, but I do remember going to Darlington in my teens to buy a Lemonheads guitar chords book and being insulted by some surly youths. As a native Teessider, when the chance came to play here I jumped at it, perhaps to exorcise the ghosts of my past, too!

After checking out the myspace of the Inside/Out club night it reminds me of the old Middlesbrough Arena indie nights I used to attend, which, despite their predictability, makes me vaguely nostalgic. On a humourous note, it still amazes me to see The Jam listed as an influence on our band despite having never professed an interest in that band! Still, that’s what our live show is all about - creating a fresh look at our music; instilling it with a renewed energy each night; showing an audience the true essence of our band.

July
02 - Inside/Out Club, Darlington [Tickets / on sale Friday 21st May at 9am]

Wow!  I feel zealous!

Sorry to all you Southerners reading this, but our concert habits are like a see-saw - I’m sure the balance will fall your way in the future (people are still mentioning how much they enjoyed the Royal Albert Hall gig when they see me in passing).

Before I close, it was nice to get a good reaction to our fledgling silent film soundtrack the other week. Good times at the Star & Shadow, as ever. Two hours worth of new music in three or four weeks bodes well for us (and you?!).

Well, I have to grab some breakfast before going in to continue writing new songs with the lads, so…
Bon Chance! Au Revoir!

Paul

I can’t access ticketweb at work and now that I’m home there are no tickets available. Sold out already? I thought I might actually be able to make it to this one. Blah.

  3. No mention of Scotland?
I hope they play in Edinburgh during the festival this year. That would be excellent.

    Thanks for the update Paul!
Maybe you could do a Scottish gig and come back to the RAH? The show last October at the RAH was beyond sublime, all ages enjoyed it,and I can honestly say that it was the very best MP gig I have seen.

Wishing I could get to Darlo, but not poss due to house move
    xx
