I'm assuming you bought the album Clara? Yes- they are very beautiful, but I'm listening to more of his older songs which didn't make the album. Just as beautiful though, perhaps moreso, as the production is so simple. Just Pete and his guitar.

Hmm- overall, you gave it the thumbs up, which most critics did. Not too sure what you mean by 'pretentious' in relation to the track Salome. You didn't expand on that.
As for his voice being 'damaged by drug use', you must listen to Babyshambles debut- 'Down in Albion'. His vocals are a mess; hardly coherent on first listen, but that aside, it surprisingly makes it a cracking album, but that was at a very bad and much publicised peroid in his career- post Libertines break-up etc..Quite understandable in some ways. That together with their second album, 'Shotters Nation' and then his solo, his vocals in my opinion are pretty darn good. Can't hear this apparent effect from drug use…but I am perhaps biased
