Today I found myself listening to some of the Park's 'Live In Tokyo' songs, which suprisingly I hadn't done before. I genuinly thought that It wasn't Paul singing… such was the difference in his voice. It sounded like he had a sore throught? So why record and sell this performance, seems odd to me?I do though, think the songs sound fantastic with his voice croaky like that. Can anyone shed some light on it for me please?
Thanks,
James

I have always thought that he must have had a stinking cold when this was recorded. Don't know if that is the case tho.

That's always puzzled me,too.I thought maybe he'd had a drink or two and that's why his voice sounded more emo than usual.

ahh well I'm glad to see that it's not just me thats baffled. Haha I like the suggestions there If i ever meet Paul then that's the question I'd ask him!
Its suprsing though as it was packaged with their debut albumn many might have heard that and assume thats how he sounds and expect that at a live show?? confusing ehh??!

I've always thought that it could of been where Paul was younger and his voice was still in-experienced at singing? and he's just improved the quality of his voice since then with practice, maybe?
However, during the sections where he's talking to the crowd he does sound a bit croaky so maybe he did have a sore throat?
I dunno, all I know is that it sounds good enough for me!

Maybe its like that through overpractising? or maybe he was crying with emotion in the songs?? lol
