MP performed in Berlin today at a pretty bad festival by a pretty bad radio station. My friend texted me the setlist as I didn't go after I heard that Maximo would play only 30 minutes. Kudos again to Antje though for getting me the ticket (it was a free show, but you had to get your tickets in Berlin in advance)
Setlist:
The kids are sick again
Girls who play guitars
Wraithlike
Apply some pressure
Books from boxes
Let's get clinical
Going missing
Questing, not coasting
Our veloctiy

What an embarrassment! 10,000 pissed teenagers of which 9,800 couldn't have cared less.
Of course the band still gave it all with Paul making full use of the stage stairway but still … just the fact that they took part in this brings to mind 2 words: SELL and OUT.
What were they thinking???

Oi, sounds even worse than I expected and what my friend texted me. I guess I know the reason why MP didn't list this gig on here nor on their MySpace. I guess it was meant as a promo for the October-tour… Hope you could enjoy the show at least a bit

Yeah, well … I was miles away from the stage (even the front row that was supposed to be “right in front of the stage” was far away) but they sold fairly cheap cocktails, that helped. But you made the right decission. I dread to think what the audience at the October shows will be like …

That leads to only one conclusion: Front row in October, so you don't get to see the audience behind you I guess my friend had some cocktails too, her messages got funnier and funnier throughout the day

oh. my. gosh.
they also played our velocity and paul messed up the lyrics at the beginning, didn't he? but he seemed to have worked on his german: dieses lied heisst questing, not coasting. es geht um ein gewitter. wow.

Thank you unka, I wondered why they didn't play their new single and Velocity already, maybe one text message have gone missing or the cocktails are to blame

This was the most embarrasing thing I ever attended. Still can't believe it.

Yeah, but since they will open the doors an unbelievable 2 hours before the support comes on I'm not sure if I have the patience to get there even earlier.

OMG - a short video of the festival is online now http://www.energy.de/energyint…..index.html (do yourself a favour and skip to 6:20 immediately), there was nobody moving in the audience or clapping I feel for everyone who went there and the Park

Oops! I just cringed…
I guess this is what happens when you put the stage so very far away from the audience. How can you expect audience participation. Btw, is that some sort of runnway? Surprised Maximo could even see who they were playing too. The whole thing just looks dreadful. Hope the ££'s was worth it
This reminds me of the audience feedback they recieved when they supported The Police @ Twickenham. They're kinda just playing to themselves..
Edit: Thought they were doing well in Germany? Please tell me that this was just a one-off, due to the radio station, stage location or even the crowd not digging Paul's pale blue 1970's suit . I do hope i've made the right decision as i'll be going to 2 of the German dates in October..

…whats with the water?? I bet who ever thought of idea of having the crowd standing in water was well chuffed with themselfs but obviously didn't think it trough….was there actually any way getting close to the front without drowing? :O
Also it's not the first time I have seen footage of these free radio sponored gigs….people just seem to go there for a day out without really caring who's on. The german gigs should be diffrent as people actually are going just for maximo

I think you weren't even allowed to walk (or swim) right up to the stage. I didn't go into the water at all.
Paul did dance down the stairs and onto that runway a couple of times, maybe he wanted to be closer to the audience …

I still don't get it who booked them. It was like being at a school party - just on a beach.
Can't wait for october.

i still don't get why they booked any bands at all, as it seemed the only thing the audience really enjoyed was the radio hosts being stupid…

sounds pretty awful.. good thing then I quickly decided not to make the effort
and doors open 2 hours before the actual gig starts. eww. that's awful, too. well, I'm still aiming for front row too so I guess I don't have much of a choice then..
[nrj in the park. this is still so weird.]

when I get sad, I stop being sad and be awesome instead. true story.
